Udder Nonsense

Describe your game in a tweet.
Udder Nonsense is an arena beat’em up party game, where players gather animals or use them as weapons against one another.
What inspires you to make games?

Adam “I am inspired by the thought of people enjoying something that I helped to create. If something I had a part in creating makes even one person happy, then I consider it worthwhile.”

Nerys “Similar to Adam, I adore watching the smiles on people’s faces as they play something I helped create. It gives me the motivation to keep going as well as an extreme rush of happiness and excitement.”

Christie “I think what’s always inspired me is the very human ability to manifest our own destiny. A cat will grow up to be a cat, but a child can grow up to be anything from a rocket scientist to a philosopher. Games to me are the epitomy of the human will to create because it comprises so many forms of Art and Technology and thus has the potential to affect people profoundly. Smiles not discounted of course.”

What’s the best thing about making a game?

Adam “Watching your ideas come to life. It’s one thing to say, wouldn’t this be cool, but to see it all actually come together in front of you is amazing.”

Christie “As Adam says, it’s always exhilarating when you see something you worked so hard to make come to life. There are few better feelings than to etching a vision and seeing it fulfilled. I also get to meet so many lovely people along the way.”

What advice would you give to aspiring game makers?

Adam “As someone who has never done anything like this before, you just have to try things. Before this game, I had never done concept art and there were plenty of other areas where I had very little experience, and now we’ve made an entire game. It’s better to just do it than to sit there wishing you had.”

Nerys “It is worth all of the hard work and sleepless nights when you get to see players doing the same thing on your own game.”

Christie “As a wise man once said: Never be cruel, never be cowardly. Laugh hard. Run fast. Be kind. Games are a team effort, it’s always going to be hard starting out working in groups but things usually work out if your considerate of your teammates and always have the courage to admit your own faults. Have fun, iterate with speed and most of all, be a good person. Learn to fall because you will fall a lot, but every stumble is just the beginning of another great big, beautiful step!”
